This Week’s Scenario
Your child asks for something you’ve already said no to, a later bedtime, an extra episode, a treat before dinner. They go find your spouse instead. Your spouse sighs, gives them a sympathetic look, and says, “Sorry, I’d let you do that, but mom is strict about that kind of thing.” Nothing actually changes. The answer stays no. But your child walks away with something new anyway, a clear sense of who’s on their side, and who isn’t.
